In 1970, after completing a degree in fine arts and jewelry design at Indiana State University, Sarah Applegate came to Bloomington to establish residence and continue jewelry design study at Indiana University. More recently, she has also studied advanced stone setting, gem identification, and diamond grading with the Gemological Institue of America, earning certificates in each category.
Her work experience includes designing and fabricating jewelry for four Bloomington jewelry stores over a ten year period. In 1980 Sarah opened S.A. Designs, her own jewelry design studio on Washington St, where she still focuses most of her energy.
Sarah guides people over the design landscape of shapes, colors, and textures. She blends her design sensibilities into jewelry for the public while always being faithful to clarity and completeness in her design solutions. |
